Fad Diets Don't Work

Tried a fad diet and failed?

The reason why you failed on a fad diet is obvious…fad diets don’t work!

Can a “fad diet” work?

It’s possible. However, the reason behind why a dieter fails on a fad diet or diet plan has nothing to do with the actual diet.

Instead, the problem lies with the dieter.

That’s right. The dieter!

First, let me just say that fad diets like the 30 Day Diet, the 3-Day Diet, the Atkins Diet, the Cabbage Soup Diet, etc., etc., etc.,...they don’t work because fad diets don’t provide lasting weight loss results for dieters who are desperate to slim down and get thin.

In other words, fad diets don’t teach people how to eat healthy and properly for the long haul.

Still, even on sensible diet plans, there are dieters who consistently fail to lose weight and keep it off because they are constantly in the mindset of “dieting” which holds so many dieters back from getting the body they want.

Hence, if you tried a fad diet and failed, here are three reasons why:

Your Attitude About Losing Weight

My thin friends and I think dieters on crash diets, fad diets, diet pills, and starvation methods are just wasting their sweet time. Not to mention, most weight loss diet plans are too restrictive for any reasonable person to follow with consistency.

Therefore, the first reason why you failed on a fad diet is because of your attitude about dieting.

Losing weight is NOT about dieting. Losing weight is about making lifestyle changes as a way of life.

Think about it for a moment.

Does a dieter really expect to live the rest of his or her life without eating carbohydrates like on the Atkins Diet? Similarly, would a dieter really only eat cabbage everyday like on the Cabbage Soup Diet?

What do you suppose happens to dieters when they stop so-called "dieting?"

Naturally, they go right back to eating the foods that made them overweight in the first place without making any real, lasting changes to their eating habits.

If dieters would simply change their attitude about losing weight and just stop “dieting”, they would realize that in order to slim down and keep the weight off permanently, all one has to do is eat healthier, eat less, and regularly workout with a fitness routine as a lifestyle.

That’s it!

You Are Not Committed to Health

When you shock your body into losing weight too fast on crash diets, fad diets, diet pills, and worst of all through starvation, your body’s defense will be to regain homeostasis as soon as possible.

To put it another way, your body will want to return back to operating to its “normal range” (i.e. back to its original, heavy weight).

That’s why dieters on these ridiculous attention-grabbing diets gain all the weight back plus more as soon as they stop dieting.

Aiming to lose on average 1-2 pounds per week naturally may not sound as exciting or gimmicky like “lose 10 pounds in a week” or “lose 20 pounds in a month”, but if dieters can lose weight progressively over time and be committed to their health by adopting a healthier lifestyle, they would not need to diet.

Eating healthy and exercising as a way of life takes commitment. REAL commitment.

It’s not just a short term solution to your weight problems until the next “hot” fad diet comes along. Again, losing weight is about making lifestyle changes AND it takes being committed to one’s health.

That’s why naturally thin people are able to stay thin year after year because they choose to be committed to their health by avoiding foods high in sugar, calories, and fat, and they exercise regularly to keep their bodies strong and fit.

You Were Not Realistic About Your Weight Loss Goals

Too many dieters want to "lose weight fast and easy" where they believe those bogus gimmicks like “lose 10 pounds in a week” or “lose 20 pounds in a month” fad diets.

Sorry…but it’s not going to happen and it’s not realistic.

As a matter of fact, unrealistic weight loss goals will only keep dieters on an endless cycle of yo-yo dieting for years and years.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but losing weight, especially significant amounts of weight, can take up to 6 months, a year, or longer.

I understand most dieters looking to lose weight fast and easy don’t want to hear that, but it’s about time for people to wake up and get realistic about how long it will take to lose weight and get thin.

Besides, losing weight is not even the hard part. It’s keeping the weight off long term that’s difficult for most people.

Once again, dieters should aim to lose on average 1-2 pounds per week. While it may not sound like much, it’s realistic, it’s achievable, and it’s safer for the body.

Not to mention, losing weight naturally over time can help prevent loose skin after weight loss.

For any dieter serious about losing weight, make long term lifestyle changes like eating healthy and exercising regularly a part of your life.

With commitment and patience, any dieter on a sensible diet and fitness routine can achieve success with lasting results.

Good Luck!
